One of the things that I have not only experienced, but heard other editors say, is that they wish Premier Pro had more transitions. Well that issue has now been addressed by the folks at Noise Industries… Well sort of…
For those not in the know Noise Industry sells plug in packages that up until now have concentrated on Final Cut, both 7 and X, as well as Motion and After Effects. I’ve used them for years and have been very impressed with the quality of the plugins and the ease of use. So, when I started doing some work with Premier I could only wish that the plugins would work on that platform as well. Today that wish came true with the release of version 4 of FX Factory.
With Version 4 all of their plugins are now available on Premier Pro CS6. However I have to add that the implementation of how the transitions work is a bit wonky. For transitions its not as simple as just dropping the transition effect on a cut point. You need to do some timeline calisthenics to get it to work. Here’s a YouTube video to show you what I mean.
Hopefully they will fix this in the future as I can see a lot of timeline scenarios where this could get really ugly. In short, thanks Noise Industries for making this happen, now go fix it so it works the right way.
